Election Results

Last Tuesday wasn't the best Tuesday in the world for President Bush and most Republicans. The election results were incredible and no one thought that what happened could happen, but it did.

The democratic party dominated Tuesday against the republican party ultimately leading to the House and the Senate shifting way back towards democrats. With this new balance, Bush will have some more difficulties with doing exactly whatever he wants to do. In just Colorado alone, the Republicans were outvoted by the Democrats 1,507,655 to 1,138,002, leaving a difference of nearly 370 tousand votes. Needless to say it was pretty much Democrats all the way.

Change in Colorado since the time of the Native Americans

I think that Colorado has definetly changed since the time of the Native Americans. Some of those changes are for the better and some for worse, but on the whole I think that we are going downhill with nature in the great state of Colorado.

Firstly, I think that with all of the development that has been going on, we have polluted our state's air and that we are using its resources in a way that isn't exactly totally efficient. Granted we have a lot more stuff than the Natives had, but we also lost a lot. With forestation going on our forests are slowly being turned to barren wastelands and our current greenhouse gass emmisions could turn the beautiful snow-covered Rocky Mountains into not-quite so snow-covered mountains. Wildlife is being hunted off and some has already faced extinction and some other species are looking like they are going to be there in a matter of years. We have made a lot of great things happen here, but a lot of those things have come at the expense of others.

Amendment 42

Amendment 42 basically says that minimum wadge should be raised to $6.85 per hour instead of what it is now. I think that it's a great idea and that it will help out a lot of people and that it probably won't have a huge effect on businesses as is. If it was legal for me to vote, I would probably go for a "yes" on amendment 42.
